Every year, almost 100,000 children and adults go missing in India. Around the world, more than a million people kill themselves. Most of these teen suicides and cases of teens running away are caused by stress, anxiety, and drugs. Families and businesses can also end up with kidnappings and murders that cost a lot of money because of jealousy and bad blood between people.
When a person hasn't been seen for more than 24 hours, a missing person investigation is started. Another common reason for someone to go missing is that they were taken by someone else.
Why is an investigation into a missing person started?
When someone goes missing, their family starts to worry and ask questions everywhere. However, asking questions and posting pictures on the street won't help them find their loved one. When it's clear that a person hasn't been seen in more than 24 hours and no one knows where they are, an investigation is started to find them.
People often disappear for the following reasons:
Peer pressure: Many kids have to deal with pressure from their parents and society. They try to get children to live the same way as everyone else around them. They want their kids to go in a certain direction and turn out the way they want them to. They make the kids choose subjects that they might not even be good at, which causes them to fail tests and become depressed.
Because there aren't enough resources, kids often have to work while they're in college or school. Parents think that kids should also work and help out around the house. This means that the kids don't have enough time, money, or education, and when they get stressed, they run away from their normal lives.
Love Affair: Our society still marries in the traditional way and thinks that love marriages are not a good idea. They still believe in the caste system, which bothers a lot of young people. Parents can be stubborn about caste or feel pressure from society, which can stop their child from marrying the person they love. This goes in the wrong direction because it makes kids leave their homes and run away.
People try to get other people's money in bad ways because they are jealous of their wealth. This is mostly done through kidnapping, where people hire thugs and gunmen to take other people's children and demand money in exchange for their life.
Murder: Often kidnapping leads to murder. This happens when the kidnappers don't get what they want or if they planned from the start to kill the person they took hostage.
Suicide: Teenagers who run away from home and kill themselves while they are on the run is called suicide. At first, they like the idea of running away, but when they run out of money or other resources, they kill themselves because they think it's the end of the world.
Bankrupcy: People take out big loans from banks and then go bankrupt because they can't pay them back. They put their money into stocks or businesses and end up losing all of it. Because of the stress, they decided to leave their lives and just run away.
Most of the missing person cases we solve are either kidnappings or people who have gone missing on their own. At first, parents will say that their kids could never run away like that, and wives will start to doubt that their husbands would take out such large loans, but this is the truth. We can't really predict what people will do because we don't know what's going on in their lives. One day, a man might seem fine, but that night, he might hang himself from the ceiling and kill himself.
